aludos de nuevo queridos lectores! Ya hemos llegado al tercer libro de
la serie James Potter, y las cosas van a cambiar muy drásticamente. ¿Estás
listo para ello? Os aconsejo que mantengáis vuestro ingenio y vuestra varita
preparados mientras nos embarcamos en este viaje.
Si llevas tiempo leyendo estos libros, entonces
conocerás las historias que a ésta preceden. Asististe a la llegada a Hogwarts
de los Alma Alerons, en sus coches voladores, un tanto peculiares. Sabes cómo
llegó a su puesto, el nuevo director de Hogwarts, además de su historia. Sabes
todo sobre los Gremlins, incluyendo el oscuro secreto de Ted Lupin, así como el
trágico pasado de Petra Morganstern. Fuiste testigo de la resurrección de Wocket,
el regreso de Gatekeeper y todas las disputas en Hogwarts. En pocas palabras,

Si aun no has leído “James Potter y la encrucijada de los mayores” o su
secuela, entonces, ¿Puedo ser tan atrevido de animaros a explorarlos antes de
continuar aquí? Como fan de Harry Potter, puedes imaginar como de confundido estaría
el lector si saltará directamente a leer “El prisionero de Azkaban”. Del mismo
modo, si te sumergieras dentro de “La cámara del destino” sin haber leído las
dos primeras historias de James Potter, probablemente te encontrarías
inmediatamente confundido.
En otro orden de cosas, muchos de
vosotros sabéis que entre “La Maldición del guardián” y este cuento, escribí un
libro más corto llamada “La chica del embarcadero”. Este libro, llamado algunas
veces (aunque no por mi) “James Potter
dos y medio”, se trata de una historia paralela completamente original
protagonizada por la amiga de James,
Petra Morganstern. Basta decir, mucho de lo que ocurrió en esa historia ha inspirado la trama de “James Potter y la cámara del destino”,
pero no tengas miedo, querido lector: He escrito la siguiente historia de tal
manera que “La chica del embarcadero” no
es una lectura obligatoria para entender “La cámara del destino”. Lo mencioné simplemente
porque si hay alguna oportunidad de que
leas la historia de Petra alerón-libre,
probablemente deberías hacerlo rápidamente (específicamente, antes de leer el

You know how the new Hogwarts headmaster came to be, and what his story is. You know all about the Gremlins—including Ted Lupin’s dark secret, and Petra Morganstern’s tragic past. You witnessed the raising of the Wocket, the return of the Gatekeeper, and the Hogwarts all-school debate. In short, you are prepared (as much as you can be) for what is to come.
If you are new to the James Potter world, then welcome! I know that newreaders are discovering these stories every day, and if you happen to be among them, let me extend my personal hope that you will enjoy these tales as much as I have. If you have not yet read “J.P. and the Hall of Elders’ Crossing” or its sequel, then may I be so bold as to encourage you to explore them before continuing on here? As Harry Potter fans, you can imagine how confused a reader might be if they jumped straight to “Prisoner of Azkaban”. Similarly, if you plunge ahead into “Vault of Destinies” without the foundation of the first two James Potter stories, you will likely find yourself almost immediately confused.
In another vein, many of you know that between “Curse of the Gatekeeper” and this tale, I wrote a much shorter book called “The Girl on the Dock”. This book, sometimes called (though not by me) “James Potter Two-and-a-half ”, is an entirely original side story featuring James’ friend Petra Morganstern. Suffice it to say, much of what happened in that story heavily influences the plot of “Vault of Destinies”, but fear not, dear reader: I have written the following story in such a way that “Girl on the Dock” is not required reading. I mention it only because if there is any chance that you’d like to read Petra’s back story spoiler-free, you should probably do so fairly quickly (specifically, before reading chapter four, “the Dream Story”).
